Almhotel Forsthofalm
Hotel Maintenance All-rounder – Tiling, Woodwork and Upholstery
Leogang · Austria
About the role
Source note on contract duration: The description states a year-round permanent position, while the employment and salary section states a fixed-term contract. Actual contract duration must be clarified with the employer before any agreement. Housing and pets are subject to availability and the conditions stated in the original.Description
Together with our team, you’ll ensure that our Forsthofalm not only looks great but also remains in good technical and structural condition.
From woodworking and carpentry to drywall and tiling, all the way to repairs on furniture and fixtures: You’ll take on a wide range of hands-on tasks throughout the hotel and help us carry out as much of the work as possible in-house.
You’ll work independently, with a focus on finding solutions, and to high quality standards. Especially in a wood-based hotel, careful handling of materials, clean workmanship, and a keen eye for detail are particularly important to us.
Requirements
With us, you won’t find a typical tradesman’s job where every day follows the same routine.
One day you’ll be repairing a piece of furniture in the guest room; the next, you’ll be doing carpentry or drywall work; and after that, you might need to replace tiles, renew silicone caulking, or carry out minor renovations.
You’ll identify where work needs to be done, find practical solutions, and carry out many tasks on your own. For larger or specialized projects, you’ll coordinate with management and assist external contractors as needed.
In doing so, you’ll regularly be working in our guest and employee areas. That’s why, for us, it’s not just about technical skill—it’s also about working neatly, being reliable, and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Performing general repair, maintenance, and renovation work throughout the hotel
Carpentry and woodworking, as well as repairs to furniture, doors, and furnishings
Minor drywall work and touch-ups on walls and ceilings
Tiling work, as well as the repair and replacement of damaged tiles
Renewal and repair of grout lines and silicone work
Minor upholstery and repair work on furniture and furnishings
Assembly of furniture, shelves, hardware, and furnishings
Repair, renovation, and beautification work in guest, employee, and operational areas
Regular inspection of the hotel for visible damage and necessary repairs
Independent resolution of minor defects
Assistance with renovations and internal projects
Coordination and collaboration with external tradespeople and specialized contractors
Careful handling of tools, machinery, and materials
Ensuring a clean and safe workplace
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
For us, it’s not essential that you have completed an apprenticeship in every single trade. What’s much more important is that you’re a versatile tradesperson, have relevant experience, and can solve problems independently.
Completed vocational training in a trade, e.g., as a carpenter, drywall installer, tile setter, upholsterer, or in a comparable profession, is a plus
Alternatively, several years of practical experience in various trades
All-arounders who can handle multiple trades are especially welcome
Good knowledge of woodworking and/or carpentry
Experience in drywall installation, tiling, furniture repair, or upholstery is a plus
Proficiency in using tools and machinery
Technical understanding and manual dexterity
Ability to identify repair needs and find solutions independently
A structured, neat, and reliable work style
High quality awareness and a keen eye for detail
Sense of responsibility and ability to work independently
Flexibility in handling a variety of hands-on tasks
Ability to work well in a team and collaborate easily with other departments
A friendly and professional demeanor in our guest areas
What’s particularly important to us: You don’t have to be a tiler, carpenter, drywall installer, and upholsterer all at once. If you have a broad range of hands-on skills, enjoy finding solutions, and can cover several of these areas, this position is a good fit for you.
