Your day-to-day work with us:
Doctors in the prison service provide primary medical care to prisoners in correctional institutions, with regular consultation hours in the medical outpatient clinic.
The medical service is supported by auxiliary staff (usually qualified nursing staff).
The scope of treatment is based on the services that people covered by statutory health insurance receive under Book V of the German Social Code (SGB V) (principle of equivalence).
Cooperation with the prison management and the other internal specialist services ensures holistic treatment and eases the day-to-day workload.
Developing concepts (e.g. for addiction treatment or managing infectious diseases) is an integral part of prison medical work and encourages professional exchange among colleagues.
What we offer:
permanent full-time or part-time employment
possible appointment as a civil servant (see requirements below)
remuneration under the TV-Ärzte collective agreement for doctors (application of § 16 para. 3 TV-Ärzte), with specialists generally assigned to group Ä2
no weekend or public holiday duties
safe conditions during consultation hours (presence of general prison service staff)
cooperation with other specialist services such as the psychological service, social service and chaplaincy service
diagnostic facilities (as in a general medical practice, including ECG and ultrasound)
What you bring:
a full medical licence (Approbation) or fulfilment of the requirements for a permit to practise medicine in Germany
an existing specialist qualification or near fulfilment of the requirements for obtaining one, e.g. as a specialist in general medicine or internal medicine (applicants with other specialist qualifications must provide evidence of experience in general medicine)
an additional qualification in ‘Basic Addiction Medicine Care’ or willingness to obtain it
knowledge of standard and specialist IT applications and willingness to familiarise yourself with new applications
Appointment as a civil servant also requires the following conditions to be met:

German nationality within the meaning of Article 116 of the Basic Law or citizenship of another Member State of the European Union
commitment to the free democratic constitutional order within the meaning of the Basic Law
in principle, no criminal convictions or pending criminal proceedings or investigations

Applications from suitable people with severe disabilities and people with disabilities with equivalent status under § 2 para. 3 SGB IX are also expressly encouraged.
This vacancy is expressly also open to people with a migration background.
